    The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to spread communism's beliefs and ways. The United States in response sent thousands of troops to have control over Kabul and and a majority of the country.
  • The First Gulf War

    The First Gulf War
    The Iraq leader Saddam Hussein had first ordered the invasion of Kuwait. After invading he refused the orders from the United Nations which began the first Gulf War. President George H.W. Bush declared a cease fire on February 28 after 42 days of air and ground attacks.
  • World Trade Center Bombing

    World Trade Center Bombing
    In 1993 a terrorist set of a bomb in the parking garage of the World Trade Center. After a massive crater was created there were about a thousand people injured with a death toll of 7 people including an unborn child. In March 1994, Mohammed Salameh, Ahmad Ajaj, Nidal Ayyad, and Mahmoud Abouhalima were convicted by a federal jury for their role in the bombing.

    On April 4th, 1995 Timothy McVeigh, with co-conspirator Terry Nichols, drove a truck full of explosives to the outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The two were considered to be anti-government militants. 168 people died with hundreds more inured.

    On March 24, 1999, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) commences air strikes against Yugoslavia with the bombing of Serbian military positions in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo.
  • USS Cole Bombing

    USS Cole Bombing
    The ship, USS Cole, was being refueled in Aden, Yemen when suicide bombers, in a small boat came up along the side of the ship. With one motion the bombers created a huge hole on the side of the ship leading to the death of 17 sailors.

    A terrorist attack on September 9th, 2001 on the United States by a group of Islamic extremists from the group al-Qaeda. The extremists hijacked four airplanes. Two of the four air planes flew into the Twin Towers in New York City, One plane crashed into the Pentagon, outside Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. About 3,000 people were killed in these attacks.

    Great Britain and the United States combined forces to invade the country of Iraq. President George W. Bush was going to war with Iraq because of the imminent threat of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction and ties to terrorism.
  • Boston Marathon Bombing

    Boston Marathon Bombing
    In Boston, Massachusetts on April 15, 2013 a terrorist attack on the marathon had taken place. Two bombs had been detonated near the finish line killing three spectators and injuring about 260 others. Later police captured one of the bombing suspects, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was later killed in a shoot out with police.
