    Hong Kong Returned to China
    When China lost the Opium Wars against Britain, they lost Hong Kong when they signed the treay of Nanjing. On July 1st, 1997, Britain offically gave back Hong Kong to China becuase the Nanjing treaty had expired.

  • Macau Returned to China

    Macau was first settled by the Portuguese in 1535 during the Ming Dynasty. Conferences were held between June 1986 and March 1987 resulting in the Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration and on December 20th, 1999, Macau was rightfully returned to China.

    The Hainan Island Incident occured when U.S. and Chinese Aircrafts collided into each other over the Island province of Hainan. A few Chinese authoritites interrogated the AMerican survivors but the situation was defused by an ambiguous statement sent by the U.S.

  • Chinese Nationalists move Capital to Taiwan

    The Chinese Naitonalists moved their capital to Taiwan becuase Mao Zedong's Communist forced pushed them off of the mainland of China.
