The Communists took over China, and the Nationalists were forced to go to Taiwan and make their own governement. -

The Great Leap forward was organized by Mao in hopes of making China able to compete with the modern, industrialized nations. -

A revolution lead by Chairman Mao to get rid of any "counter-revoultionary" items. -

Mao Dies, Along with the Cultural Revolution
Chairman Mao dies, which ends the Cultural Revolution. -
Tiananmen Square Massacre
Government-controlled tanks and troops raided Tiananmen Square, where students had been doing what the government called "counter-revolutionary" demonstrations, killing both students that hadn't fled, and civilians trying to stop them.
