Dalton Model
Dalton's model was that the atoms were tiny, indivisible, indestructible particles and that each one had a certain mass, size, and chemical behavior that was determined by what kind of element they were. -

Timeline on Models of Atoms
-
Thomas Model
Thomas discovere electrons, so he suggested that the atom is a positively charged sphere with electrons through it. -
Hantaro Nagaoka Model
Nagaoka was a Japanese physicist who suggested that the atom was a large sphere with a positive charge, with electrons revolving around it. -
Ernest Rutherford Model
He was a British physicist whose atom model was very similar to Nagaoka's model. Except he said that the sphere was small with electrons orbiting it and that the atom was mostly made up of empty space. -
Bohr Model
Niels Bohr, a Danish physicist, proposed that electrons orbited a sphere, moving in layers, instead of randomly orbiting the sphere. He said the atoms absorb and give off energy when the electrons move. -
Chadwick Model
James Chadwick, a British physicist, discovered the neutron. This gave the reason why atoms were heavier than the total mass of their protons and electrons.
