Her parents are getting a divorce and she feels to blame for it. She over comes it by talking to her parents about it explaining why she feels the way she does. And they explaine to her she had nothing to do with it. -
Swims for the first time

Home sick
She's at home sick!! She has the flu. She treats it with
Antibiotics, Rest, And Staying Hydrated.
She also makes a pledge to
Wash her hands everytime she comes inside or right before she eats and right after shes done going to the bathroom.
Also to get the vaccine to protect herself.
And lastly to not come in contact with a contaminated person who could spread the flu to her or to not come into contact with anyone while she has it. -
Health Goal
She wants to eat more vegetables and exersise more so she can lose 10 pounds and so she can feel better about herself.
She cuts out all of the junk food from her diet and goes on a job once a day for the next month -
Puberty Begins
Miranda begins her menstural cycle.
She begins to develop characteristics of an adult.
She also begins to form a better cognition. -
Stressful event
She has semester finals coming up and she had 8 classes to study for. It physically affected her by: she was studying so much she didn't have time to exercise so she gained back the 19 pounds she lost. And she lost sleep.
She managed her time by studying for each class about thirty minutes a night . She went to bed early and ate a healthy breakfast on the day of her exams. -
Bestfriend probmlems
Her bestfriend Chelsea revealed to her that she has been drinking on the weekends as a fun thing to do.
Explained to her that:
1: Alcohol lowers your judgement skills casuing you to make bad decisions, like drinkning and driving. Or sexual descions that could casue STD's and STI's
2: Damages the liver. Causes scarring and inflammation which can lead to liver faliure.
3: You can get alcohol poisoning. Which causes dehydration.
4: Loss of respect from family and peers. -
Grief
Her mother dies in a car accident on their way to her school.
1: Denial, she refuses to accept her mom is dead
2: she blames her self becasue they were running late that day and her mom was speeding.
3: She feels that she should have been the one to die. She is angry wth herself
4: She would do anything to have her mom back
5: She finally realizes nothing is going to bring her mom back so she accepts it and makes it a learning experience.
6: She is hopeful for her future to be great -
Family Relavtive starts smoking again
Miranda's older brother Chris begins smoking again.
She explains that tobacco can cause cancer of the lungs, mouth, throat, and pretty much the whole respiratory tract. Sshe also explains that tobacco can cause yellowing of the skin, teeth, and eyes. She aslo says it can casue emphysema. Chris hasn't promised anything major but he did promise he was going to try to stop. So Miranda told him it would be wise to have a support system becasue quitting a bad habit can be hard. -
at the party
Mirandas best friend Chelsea was at a party with her. Chelsea had some drinks and was trying to drivee home. Miranda told her that drinking alcohol dims your reflexes so you are more likely to have an accident. She also says if she were to get caught/ pulled over she could get in trouble with the law and it would go on her permanant record and even possibly affecting her educational future. -
Learing about family health.
On her mom's side cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
Dad's cancer, kidney faliure, and diabetes.
She makes a pledge to ear healthier from now on.
To prevent the diabetes she will eat healthier foods and exercise
Kindey faliure: She wont drink alcohol and drink more water
Heart disease: won't eat foods that will casue issues
Cancer: take cautious steps to prevent it. -
Makes a pleadge to stay abstinent
Miranda talks to her parents about the "Birds and the bees" and they tell her it would be a good idea to remain abstinent until marriage. They tell her
1) being abstinent protects you from harmful STD's and STI's
2) it also prevents unwanted pregnancy
3) she will feel better about her self becasue she will know she completeled a major goal in life and it paid off. -
