Haden and Benjamin Edwards rebelled against Mexican government when the government was not doing what they want. Mexican troops and Stephen F. Austin go to put down the rebellion making the brother leave. Teran went to Texas and came back to Mexico to report that they should stop any type of acquiring of Texas from US. He also suggested that they should put more garrisons around the settlements.All of these suggestions became the Law of April,1830.

A law, initiated by Escalda, that was made to stop immigration from the US. Mier y Teran's recommendations for Texas was enforced by this law. It also stated that the Texans should stop slavery and to put more garrisons around the settlements.

Austin is arrested because he was under the suspicion of trying to rebel against the Mexico government. He had no case filed against him and no trial. In the December of 1834, Austin was freed. He had a changed mind about the Mexican government and decided to revolt.

Without a trial and justice he is put into prison. No man should go through that. People do not mean what they say when they are angry or annoyed.

Mier y Teran is just taking advantage of his role in that government. He needs to know that Anahuac is out of the way and alot of ships could not easily go there.

the Conflict at Anahuac was that Gen. Mier y Teran ordered that all land titles be inspected. He also said to inspect the Anglo lawyers' licenses becaus he did not trust them. A resolution made by the settlers that said they are loyal to Santa Anna and Mexico because he said that he supported the Constitution of 1824. All of the settlers aligned themselves with the Federalists.

The mexicans are happy that this had happened espesiallt Santa Anna, but even though Mexicans are not treating the Texans well, they agreed to do that resolution

In San Felipe, TX, settlers asked to repeal the anti-immigrant section of the Law of April 6, 1832. They also asked for better Indian defense, judicial reform, improvement in mail service, sought tariff exemption, and passed resolutions not allowing African slave traffic into Texas. Thus they created a state constitution.

The army at Gonzales retreated eastward to San Jacinto. Mirabeau Lamar, a private, showed how well he could act in battle and was put in command of cavalry. Later, they learned that General Cos had an extra back up 540 soldiers. Houston said to desrtoy a the bridge on which they were getting reinforcements. Then he and the other leaders had their troops sneek on the Mexicans and attacked the Mexicans. 630 Mexicans killed and 730 captured. Only 9 texans were killed in this battle.

Domingo de Ugartechea heard that settlers would not hand over the small but powerful cannon and sent soldiers to the Guadalupe River to retreive it. Upset, the settlers fired the cannon at the soldiers.Out numbered, the soldiers retreated.

Erastus Smith came into San Antonio to say that Mexican troops with pack animals are coming there. 100 infantry followed Bowie to stop the train. The Texans broke out in crossfire at the Mexicans. The mexicans also pushed onward, but the Texans outnumbered them and the Mexican had more losses than Texans. The Texans came back with 40 cattle and in return of their vivtory was grass for the animals.

We defeated General Urrea and stopped the flow of Mexican backup troops but it was not much of a victory at home.

Brave, courageous men were lost in this terrible battle. Santa Anna must be stopped!

James Bowie and William Travis commanded the men at the Alamo. When Travis called upon fellow Texans and America for help, the response was nothing or no. For 13 days, Texans fought versus the Mexicans.To warn the Texans, Santa Anna raised a red flag representing no mercy. But the they would not surrender. The 2 rivals fought until about 8 in the morning when hundreds of people lay dead. Text Book

The 2nd meeting of the Consultation that delegates aranged. Most were Anglo-American but they had 2 Tejano delegates.The next day, they declared independence in Texas. The declarations were based on the American one and said the right for revolution, complaints about central government, and independence. Text Book

We have finally declared independence and have an official constitution!

In Coleto, Mexicans and Texans battled. The texans started to retreat under Fannin's command and Urrea tried to stop them. When the 2 groups met, they started to fight. Fannin was injured and could not be healed because of the lack of fire. All alive were shot at Goliad.Santa Anna showed no mercy.

David Burnet, ad interim president, negotiated with the prisoner Santa Anna because Houston's leg was very injured. He had Filisola remove Mexican soldiers south of the Rio Grande. 2 treaties were made. One, Santa anna promised never to Texas again, remove all of his troops, and exchange certain prisoners on each side. The other agreement was that Santa Anna would help Texas be recognised as independent and that the Rio Grande was the Border btween Mexico and Texas. Text Book
