Introduction
Destiny Hope Cyrus, commonly known as Miley Cyrus, was born on November 23, 1992 in Franklin Tennessee. Miley was raised on a family farm near Nashville with her two siblings, three half-siblings, her mother, and her famous country singer father, Billy Ray Cyrus. I am writing this timeline about Miley because everyone knows her for the crazy things she does but what she does when she is not twerking on stage is much more significant. -
Hannah Montana
Miley's early start to fame began when she was just twelve years old. She landed a leading role in her own series on Disney Channel: Hannah Montana. She was joined on-screen with her father Billy Ray who played her dad in the show. The show featured her great acting skills as well as her amazing voice. She played a teenager living a double life as a normal girl by day and a pop star by night. She was clearly a born performer and this would only be the start to her life in the spotlight. -
Miley Knows Best
Miley is truly a talemted person. She is famous for her amazing acting as well and her unique, wonderful voice: "Her success isn’t a fluke. Cyrus is cute, but not too cute, and she sings with more character than most pop stars her age—you could imagine her voice, with its natural husk and its twang from her native Tennessee, turning into Lucinda Williams’s someday, if she plays her cards right" (Vanity Fair). -
Miley Cuts her Long Locks
Everyone believes that the Miley we used to know left us when Cyrus chopped all of her hair off. Her hair was just the begininning of her image change. She began wearing body suits and twerking on stage, beginning with the 2013 VMAs that were especially controversial. When talking about her image, Miley states "I don't ever think about what someone's gonna think... I think I'm just speaking out to woman in a way, just be yourself" (Miley Cyrus). Miley is trying to break the double standard. -
Why, Miley?
Miley Cyrus is not as crazy as some people may think. When talking about her image, Miley states "I don't ever think about what someone's gonna think... She ended her engagement with Liam Hemsworth in 2013 so she could have the freedom to be herself. She is truly a happy person now because she does not care what people think about her. -
Miley the Inspiration?
Miley Cyrus does amazing things in the world that the media does not show. All we see on TV and in magazines is the crazy things that Miley does. What we do not see is that Miley is working with a foundation called Happy Hippie, helping to find a cure for HIV and Aids. In June of this year, Cyrus was awarded the Inspiration award by AmfAR for her tremendous help for those with the disease. Miley is such a caring person who is using her platform to truly make a difference in the world. -
Miley Comes Clean
In ELLE's October issue, Miley speaks about her sexualitly saying, "I’m very open about it – I’m pansexual. But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with" (Miley Cyrus). Miley would love to see a world that understands acceptance. She believes that all of the judgement in the world makes it hard for people to grow.
