"Common Sense" was writen in January, 9 1776 by Thomas Paine. the porpuse was to get more people to join the patriot army. it got more people on the patriot's side. -

The Declaration of Independence was writen to tell England we wanted independence. The preamble talked about the king not following the law. The first section telled him he was unfit to be the king. The second section telles him they want to make peace with him, not go to war. In the third they stated their. independence. the king sent troops to America. -

The fighting moved to the Middle Colonies. the British won and the Patreots had to retreat. He thought the British troops in Canada under Major General John Burgoyne needed to take control of Albany, New York and the Hudson River.
