  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was on April 19, 1775. This Battle is infamous for "The Shot Heard Around the Word". This was the beginning of the American War of Independence. The American War lasted from 1775-1783.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress was the official formed of delegates from American colonies. A provisional government came together to make decisions about the war with Britain over American independence
  • Battle at Bunker Hill

    On June 17, 1775 the Battle at Bunker Hill took place.This was the first major war against the Americans and Brits. The Brits had eventually won the battle of several attempts, only because the Americans ran out of ammunition.
  • Failed Seizure of Quebec Under Benedict Arnold

    Benedict Arnold thought that seizing Quebec could have had huge potential benefits. He attempted to capture the British-occupied city of Quebec, but was unsuccessful.
  • Common Sense Published

    Common Sense, written by Thomas Paine, proposed to American colonists the idea to declare independence from England.
  • Declaration of Independence

    John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston wrote the Declaration of Independence. This was one of the most significant events in American history because this was the separation of 13 North American colonies from Great Britain.
  • Battle of Trenton

    The Battle of Trenton is significant for victory and Americans reclaimed control of much of New Jersey. This improved the morale and unity of the colonial army and militias.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point in the war. The Americans defeated the British. This once again lifted patriot morale, furthered the hope for independence, and helped to secure the foreign support needed to win the war.
  • Battle of Paoli

    The Battle of Paoli was known for being one of the bloodiest fights in the American Revolution. The Brits slayed the Americans, ending in over 100 Americans wounded and 53 American deaths.
  • Washington Encampment at Valley Forge

    Washington led the American troops to a more unified force that defeated the British, which helped win American independence over the last five years of the war.
