Middle Ages Torture
Torture in the Medieval period of the middle ages was violent and filled with gore. Torture in the Middle Ages was used to put fear from torture in citizens and prisoners of their fate. Many Castles had torture rooms and there wasn’t a custom or law against torturing unfortunate prisoners. There were different types of torture depending on the crime and the person’s social status. Torture was the consequence for most crimes back then and was used to get info by intimidating suspects. -

A Mace is a weapon used mainly for close combat. Most maces used in fights were one-handed to allow mobility. Maces were slow for swinging at the victim/opponent but deal great damage.Maces were mostly made up of metal and had spikes at the end. -

The Ducking Stool
The Ducking Stool was often used against women for sexual offenses, back talking, and scolding someone. It was also used for when someone is suspected of being sinister. They would be put into the water and if they came back alive they are innocent and if they drowned they were a sinister. -

The Saw
The Saw was used as a torture device before the victim was executed. They would be hung upside down and there would be two guys on opposite sides of the victim. The two guys would move a saw back and forth between his legs and then was left there until he died. -
The Rack
The Rack was used to dislocate and stretch the victim’s body and was first used in 1628 when a Catholic priest assassinated the duke.
