  • Meeting of the Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress handled the war with meetings in Philadelphia. Had a large part of America's revolution, all lading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
  • Battle at Lexington and Concord

    British troops were sent to these towns to confiscate the colonies' weapons. Upon arrival, they were met with a militia of untrained colonists. Americans defeat the British at these battles.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle in Massachusetts between Americans and British. Resulting in the defeat of the Americans. Although they lost this war allowed the inexperienced colonists a confidence boost. Even though the colonists were untrained they still managed to damage the British troops greatly.
  • Failed Seizure of Quebec

    Benedict Arnold led American troops to their defeat while trying to seize Quebec. American casualties were great while British were not.
  • Common Sense Publishing

    Articles that were written by Thomas Paine giving colonists reasons to separate from Great Britain. Stating all of the things the King has done against the colonists.
  • Adoption of The Declaration of Independence

    Date the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted. The declaration involved the goals that the signers had for the newly forming nation Along with that this document was America officially separating from Britain.
  • Battle of Trenton

    George Washington led a surprise attack against Hessian soldiers near Christmas. This plan worked and Americans defeated the Hessian troops after crossing the Delaware River.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    George Washington and American troops stay at Valley Forge during the winter or 1777-78. During this time food is scarce and many soldiers die of sickness. Very harsh conditions kill many of the American Army.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    This battle is considered the turning point of the Revolutionary War. British troops surrendered and had far more casualties than American soldiers.
  • Paoli Massacre

    British troops kill Americans while they are sleeping. The red coats use swords to kill the unarmed troops, their leader used their disadvantage as a sneak attack. This lead to a British conquering, while killing many Americans.
