The American Civil War was between the Union and the Confederacy. Started when 19 States left the Union. It mostly was over the morality of slavery. -

New treaties for the tribes that sided with the confederacy. First was to abolish slavery and give the freedman rights. The second was to form intertribal council. The third was that tribes would give up land when a railroad needed to be built. -

The president broke up reservation land into smaller parts to give to people. This land was owned and stolen from Native Americans -
The Oklahoma Land Rush
Men and women rushed in with their horses to claim and purchase now-available lands that randomly appeared. It is said that over 11,00 homesteads were claimed. -
The Reorganizational Act
All five tribes and the government signed it. It aimed at decreasing decreasing federal control of Native American affairs and increasing Native self government and responsibility.
