Microsoft beginning
Bill gates drops out of Harvard uniersity and joins Paul Alllen to start a computer operating system. They form a partnership called "Microsoft. Their first operation was on the Altair 8800 computer. -
MIcrosoft sucess
The operation made $1 million. Gates and Allen moved the comoany to Albuquerque. -
The Manager
Former Harvard student Steve Ballmer becomes Microsoft's first company manager. -
MS-DOS
Microsoft creates Microsoft disk operatig system (MS_DOS) This runs on IBM personal compuetrs. The software manages/ runs the computer hardware. -
MIcrosoft windows 1.0
Microsoft introduces first version of windows. Rather than typing "MS_DOS" commands, you now have a mouse to point and click through screens. There is also drop-down menus, scroll bars and icon. -
Windows 2.0
Microsoft releases windows 2.0. It has faster speed and expanded memory. -
Windows 3.0
Windows 3 is finally launched. Windows has better performance, advanced graphics with 16 colors, and improved icons. Program Manae Manager, and Print Manager arrive in Windows 3.0 as new additions. -
Wiindows NT

Windows 95
Windows 95 features the Start menu, taskbar, and minimize, maximize, and close buttons on each window. Microsoft also makes their web browser "Internet Explorer" -
Windows 98
Windows 98 includes the ability to open and close programs more quickly, and support for reading DVD discs and universal serial bus (USB) devices and the first Quick Launch bar. -
Windows 2000 professional
Windows 2000 Professional improves hardware installation by adding support for a wide variety of new Plug and Play hardware, including advanced networking and wireless products. -
Windows XP
Windows Xp includes better graphics and enhancing reliability, security, and performance. It's also avaliable in 25 different lanugages. -
Windows Vista
Windows Vista is the improvement of security and protetction. User Account Control helps prevent potentially harmful software from making changes to your computer. -
Windows 7/ Windows Touch
Windows 7 includes like Snap, Peek, and Shake—that improves functionality. It also marks the debut of Windows Touch, which lets touchscreen users browse the web. -
Windows 8
Windows 8 features a Start screen with tiles that connect to people, files, apps, and websites. -
Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 includes new and improved features like Workplace Join and Work Folders that enable Windows devices to connect more easily to corporate resources.
