Windows 1.0 Release
After 2 years of it being announced, Windows 1.0 finally releases as Microsoft's first of a series of PC operating systems. -
WIndows 3.0 and 3.1: Graphics
After Windows 2.0 and 2.11, WIndows 3.0 releases and sells 10 million copies in it's first year. It now has much improved graphics and icons and is one of the best operating systems yet. -
Bill Gates steps down as CEO
After a yelling match in a meeting, Bill Gates storms out, and doesn't come back as CEO again. He is now chairman of Microsoft and is still involved in some way. -
Windows 7 and Counting
Windows 7 was released in 2009 and was a huge hit with many new featues and faster speeds. By fall 2012, it was selling 7 copies a SECOND, the fastest selling operating system in history. Next is WIndows 8, and from then we don't know, but we'll find out eventually...
