1969 - the Jackson Five's first record, I Want You Back, was released on the famous Motown label, and goes straight to number one in the US. The band than has back to back hits over the following six years. 1978 - Michael Jackson meets music producer Quincy Jones and under his guidance releases the classic Off the Wall, featuring hit single Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough. The record than sells 10 million copies. -
Maturity
1982 - Michael Jackson releases a Thriller, which goes on to become the biggest-selling album of all time. Jackson transforms into a zombie, revolutionizing the way pop music was marketed, just as MTV was growing in popularity. 1983 - Jackson for the first time performs his trademark moonwalk dance on a TV special about Motown. -
Decline
1987 - Rumors start to begin to circulate about Jackson undergoing plastic surgery and skin bleaching after he appears in the video for the song "Bad", with noticeably lighter skin than before. 1993 - The family of an 11-year-old Jordy Chandler accuse Jackson of molesting their son. And the singer strongly denies the allegations, but reaches an out-of-court settlement with the family for around 20 million. -
Decision Point
1997 - Jackson marries his nurse, and a year later have two children a boy named Prince Michael and a daughter named Paris Michael. 2002 - Jackson attracts criticism for dangling his third child, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Germany. 2005 - After a five-month trial conducted in the full glare of the world's media, Jackson is thankfully cleared of all charges. After the acquittal, Jackson moves to Dubai.
