Michal's Jewish growth Timeline

  • Born on Chanukkah

    I was born in Israel on 25 of Kislev which is the first night of chanukkah. It was a cold and snowy day in Jerusalem.

    My mom was sick with cancer and we moved to NY for treatment. I moved to a new school and a new community.

  • My great loss, my mother passed away on Rosh Chodesh Nisan

    After a very short period of time in the US my mother passes away at the age of 36 leaving six children behind and an amazing 40 year old man. My siblings and I revist our belief in God and are challenged by our grief and sadness.
  • My Bat Mitzvah

    My sisters organized a beautiful Bat Mitzvah for me at our house. I decided to learn about Jewish women who have inspired my over the course of my education. I mainly focused learning about my mother, Simi Bat Esther. Her character traits and values she has taught me.
  • Teaching certificate by National Yeshivah Teachers Board Certified by Torah Umesorah

    While attending Brooklyn College and Teacher's Seminary, I was so inspired by my teachers and professors, decided to major in education and Psychology. I received my teaching certificate.
  • My first teaching job at a Jewish Day School, Ohel Moshe

    After teaching second grade for two weeks, I wanted to quit. The students were so difficult, the parents were unsupportive and the principal was clueless. My father encouraged me to stick with it and not quit on my students. After working day and night, I fell in love with my students. In conclusion to our study of shabbat I invited my class for a shabbaton at my house. We had the best time living what we have been learning and observing shabbat.
  • My second job Teaching Fifth grade Judaic Studies

    After teaching for a year, I asked for a raise so that I can pay for gas for my car. I was denied and found a new job at Yeshivat Ateret Yisrael teaching Fifth grade Judaic Studies. I thought I LOVED teaching second grade, after teaching fifth grade for a while I realized that I loved teaching fifth graders even more. I loved my students and began creating my own teaching materials. The parents were invloved and the principals were so invested and supportive.
  • Wedding day! Begining of a new life with my husband Barry.

    I graduated and then got married on June 28th. I moved to Boston from NY to a new Jewish community and a new school, Maimonides School. A school which I have been working at for the past 21 years.
  • Taught Sunday class-Beginners Tanach studies to adults at Brandeis University

    Since my husband was in Dental school, I had a lot of free time on sundays. I started teaching tanach to adults on Sunday. It was one of my most rewarding expereinces of my life. My students loved learning Tanach and I loved teaching them! When the course was over, we continued learning in different student's houses.
  • My first daughter was born, welcome to the world Abby!

    I finally became a mom to my daughter Avigail Simi, AKA Abby!!!!
    Abby is named after my mother and I was so excited to be her mom!
    Abby is an amazing child who can achieve a great deal but needs to invest a great deal of time and effort into everything she does. Nothing is easy for my Abby...I'm soooo prouf of all her accomplishments.
  • Second daughter is born, welcome to the world Daniella!

    Daniella was born on New Years Eve. She was so tiney that even premature clothing were too big. Today she is an amazing athlete who is in every varsity team in our school.
  • Soloveitchik Institute Teacher training, Mentoring Program

    I took a course on how to mentor new teachers. I was mentored by amazing master teachers who have inspired me in so many ways. As I mentor teachers today, I hear thier voices in my mind and all of the valuable advice and guidance.
  • My third daughter is born. Welcome to the world Ayelet!!

    Ayelet is named Ayelet, Esther Emma for my grandmother and my mother as well. I missed my Imma so much that I named her Emma.
    Ayelet was a scheduled CSection baby who is delicate, sweet and kind. Ayelet is a person that everyone likes. She is very thoughtful, sensetive and extremely closed. She is creative and very artistic. To all of our surprise, she made the soccer team which she is very prouf of and so are we.
  • Teaching adolescence the "growing up, Sex Ed"

    Not sure how I got into this exactly but felt that the "Growing up" program was a very important milestone that should address physical, emotional, socail as well as spiritul development. Researching and looking into many school, we developed a "growing Up" program that is still used today at our school.
  • I finally had a son! Welcome to the world Eitan!

    I didn't think that I can produce a boy, but I guess i was wrong. Eitan was an easy baby who loved to eat, sleep and play. He has grown up to be a very sensitive ans sweet boy. Eitan is my spiritual boy who always asks about God, life and wants to do the right thing. He loves sports and his family. He struggles with his speech but has made great strides. We are crazy about our prince!
  • New Hebrew curriculum training by Tal Am

    Maimonides School decided to train all teachers in Tal Am. An Ivrit curriculum developed in Montreal teaching American students. I have been using this curriculum for the past six years and modifying if for my various learners ever since.
  • Finally persuing my masters at Hebrew College

    After years of teaching and having children, I finally gave myself the time to persue my masters degree in Jewish Education. I love learning, refelcting and challenging myself to try new things. I love being a part of a community of learners who are passionate about Jewish Education. It has truly changed me in so many ways.
