Spanish Takes Over Mexico
The Spanish took over all of Mexico. It occurred because the Spanish wanted more land so they came to Mexico. Spain wanted to have colonies. This was significant because it kind of taught Mexico how to run a government so when they were free they knew what to do. -
Batlle of Calderon Bridge
This happened throughout Mexico. This went on for 4 years. This occurred because there were two different groups of people that wanted different governments. The liberals wanted a federalist government. The conservatives wanted a centralist government. It is significant because it started another war about governments. -
Mexico Gains Independence
It occurred all over Mexico. It occurred because Mexico wanted independence. Mexico had wars before this to try to get independence. They could not gain independence from them. This is significant because they are now a free country. They get to govern themselves and not be told what to do by a different country. -
Mexico and Texax
This took place in Texas. It occurred because the U.S. wanted Texas and countries don’t want to give up land so Mexico fought them for it. Mexico ended up losing. This was significant because it showed not to fight with the U.S. and it showed how Mexico came to be. -
Mexican-American War
This occurred in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado. It occurred because the U.S. wanted land and Mexico didn’t want to give it to them. The U.S. won the war and gained all that land. This wasn’t very significant because they lost a lot of land. -
Reform War

Battle of Puebla
This occurred by the city of Puebla. This happened because the Spanish kept attacking Mexico. The Spanish kept winning against Mexico and this was one of the first wars Mexico won. There was a new holiday that was made for this day, Cinco de Mayo. This was significant because the Mexicans new they could win. -
Death of Emiliano Zapata
It occurred in a small village. It occurred because he was leading an army that protested and a lot of people didn’t like that. A general sent a guy out to kill him. It is significant because the people on his side kept protesting but then it died down. The EZLN was made in honor of him. It was a military group. -
Mexican Revolution
This occurred all over Mexico. Some people didn’t like the government so they protested. It is significant because they started over and got a better government. In the process they made a new constitution. This is one of the most important events in Mexico history. -
Earthquake Strikes Mexico City
This occurred in Mexico City. This happened randomly. It was and earthquake that measured 8.1. Over 10,000 people were killed. This was significant because they are more prepared if it ever happens again.
