October 15, 2017, actress Alyssa Milano wrote: "If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet." She was then made aware of an earlier #MeToo movement, and provided the link to site of Ms. Burke. Milano credits her identification with the Me Too movement to being personally affected by sexual harassment during a concert when she was only 19. -

Nearly all women in attendance, and many of the men, wore all black in a sign of solidarity for #MeToo and the Time’s Up initiative — a response to the gender inequality and sexual harassment prevalent in both the film industry and society as a whole. Oprah Winfrey used the end of her eight-minute speech, which focused mostly on the #MeToo movement.
