Half an hour before launch time a explosive flash occured. When the smoke cleared it was olnly the capsusle and tower. The boosters and adapter clamp ring remans intact on the launcher. At 2000 feet the clamping ring that held the tower to the capsle releast and LJ 1 blamed the permature fireing on the grand centeral escape rocket. On a eleterical leak. The fault was found in a coil desighn to protect biological secimens from too rapid an abourd. -
Little Joe 2
Little joe was a test of mercury space capsle. It had a live monkey named Sam. He was sent to test what space equipment was needed for humans in space. The flight was launched on December 4 1959 at 11:15am from Wallops island, Virgina. Little Joe flew 55 miles into space. The monkey survived!!!!! -
