    During the 1890s men mostly wore readymade, mass produced clothing. Jackets were short and narrow and rounded at the front. Trousers became narrower. Shirts were close fitting and a black bowtie was often worn. Bib overalls were often worn by men in the working class.

    Men in this decade wore suits all year round even in the summer heat. Mismatched sport coats and trousers became in style. Trousers were wide and came in solid colors or plaid. light wools started getting replaced by light flannel, linen and rayon blends.Casual clothes such as sweaters and shirts were also becoming more popular. Hats if they were worn were usually a snap brim fedora.

    There was little change in the apparel that working class wore between the last decades. They still were rummaging through more fortunate people's trash to find clothes. The Great Depression lasted through this whole decade and caused severe unemployment.
