    During the 1890s men mostly wore readymade, mass produced clothing. Jackets were short and narrow and rounded at the front. Trousers became narrower. Shirts were close fitting and a black bowtie was often worn. Bib overalls were often worn by men in the working class.

    During the first decade of the 1900s, men's fashion changed due to the growth of the fashion industry.This was known as the Edwardian era. men's fashions seem to fit the occasion. there were different coats for different times. trousers were worn in shorter lengths than before. Shirt collars were tall and stiff and resembled wings. There were also several types of ties that were worn.The men of this time did not have a lot shoes but wore two-toned spectators or lace up boots.

    1900s working class clothing were mainly secondhand clothes. The clothes were made of heavy wool, cotton and corduroy and had to have a long life span. Working class men often got their clothes from the trash of wealthy men. So, they often did not fit well

    In the 1910s, men's style became more relaxed. crisp shirts and high collars were common. So were bold stripes and well groomed hair.the lounge suit became popular in the 1910s.

    in the 1920s men's clothing went through a radical change post ww1. The Jazz age gave everyone an edgier look on life and it showed through their clothing. baggy pants with wide legs became popular. suits became simpler and colors were brighter.

    Farmers of this decade wore button down shirts and felt hats. they began wearing flat caps and the overalls were still popular.

  • 1930 Men's Apparel

    Men in this decade wore suits all year round even in the summer heat. Mismatched sport coats and trousers became in style. Trousers were wide and came in solid colors or plaid. light wools started getting replaced by light flannel, linen and rayon blends.Casual clothes such as sweaters and shirts were also becoming more popular. Hats if they were worn were usually a snap brim fedora.

    There was little change in the apparel that working class wore between the last decades. They still were rummaging through more fortunate people's trash to find clothes. The Great Depression lasted through this whole decade and caused severe unemployment.
