The main reason for the Declaration of independence was to show other countries why they seperated from Britian. A preamble is a preliminary or preparatory sentance or opening. the first section was about having their rights(certain rights). The second part was about grievances(formal complaints) against England. the third part is the coclusion, the right to be free and away from England. It showed the Colonies. independence -
Retreat From New York
The colony that the fighting shifted to was Virginia. the british gained control of New York. The colonists were forced out of New York completely. He was a colonistss who died spying for the patriots and was hanged by british. There morales were low. -
Crossing The Delaware
The Colonists were crossing the Delaware river to get to Trenton to attack the German Hessians, which were mercanaries for the British(paid killers). The patriots won with a surprise attack because they made the Hessians surrender. They had a little morale boost after taking Trenton. -

The British goal was to take control of Albany, New York and the Hudson River. The British were planning to have Burgoyne move south from Canada and plan to meet at Albany St. Leger was to go east from Fort Oswego.Howe was to move north from Virginia. Oswego.Howe was to go north from Virginia. The british failed because the patriots were able to stop them from cuttin off the colonie supply line, which ruined the whole british plan.It became a major turning point in the war for the colonists -

Valley Forge was on the Schuylkill River about 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The british were at Philadelphia. The conditions were bad they were terrible for everyone many soldiers quit. The soldiers who didnt quit became well trained soldiers. -

Gen.Cornwallis was captured and forced to surrender at yorktown. Guerrilla tactics are "hit and run" tactics. his mistake was moving onto the penninsula where he thought he'd get help from his navy but then the french navy stopped the british where he got stuck between the patriots and the french.
