Doolittle's raid was the first United States air raid on Japan during World War ll. The B-25 was the chosen airplain for to Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Kobe. It was a United States propoganda victory. -
Coral Sea
The Japanese tired to attack the Allies line fought between Australia, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. The battle was mostly fought with airplanes.At the end the Japanese invasion was repelled. Also, it was a Japanese tactical victory and a Allied strategic victory. -
Midway
The battle of Midway was known as the turing point in the war. During the war America destroyed 4 of japan's aircraft carriers. This was a major win for the United States. After this battle japan had the play defense for the rest of the war. -
Guadalcanal
The battle of Guadalcanal was coadnamed Operation Watchtower by Allied forces. This battle was very important beacuse it was in the jungle which made it strategically important for both sides in the battle.The allied forces got credit fot the victor in this battle. Only 7,100 dead for the Allied forces and 31,000 dead for japan. -
Saipan
It was fought on the island of Saipan in the Mariana Islands. Mnay civillians killed themselves by jumping of a cliff. Also, 165,00 shells were fired. It resulted in a American victory. -
Iwo Jima
This battle was known as Operation Detachment. The United States captured island of Iwo Jima. The americans had around 7,000 killed and japan had around 22,000 killed. It was another win for America. -
Okinawa
When the US marines invaded Okinawa they were ready for a 82 day long battle. 7,600 American had died while 110,000 japans had died. It was an American victory. After the battle Japan surrendered.
