The Cold War
The Cold war was between the United states with help of NATO, and the Soviet Union. It was made up of many Political events such as Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missle Crisis, Space race, Arms race, and the Iron Curtain. -
Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was the agreement that the United States would intervene worldwide to help stop the spread of communism. A lot of help went to Greece and Turkey at first, but expanded to other countries who needed hrlp to stay clear of communism. -
Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was put into place to help the European countries rebuild their economy and work force after the war.Itprovided a sum of money to the countries on loan so they could get back on their feet. It helped the United States because it gained respect from most European countries. -
Creation of NATO
NATO is a defence alliance made up of 10 European nations and North America to fight Soviet expansion in Europe. It helped send aid to countries that were fighting the expansion and held off Soviet takeover. -
Korean War
The Korean War was the battle between North Korea and South Korea with the aid of the United Nations. Communism was taking over Korea and thtat wasn't accepted by all the Citizens. After years of invasions of both sides, the United Nations were able to come to a peace agreement. -
Arms Race
The Arms race was a Nuclear race between the Soviets and Americans of who had the better weapons. The United States were first to drop the Hydrogen bomb, which was the biggest bomb to be named at the time. However, the Soviets were not far behind - they set off a hydrogen bomb as well 2x the size of the on ehte US had. -
Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was another war based on Communism. The United States had sent in many troops to aid, but sadly their help wasn't as helpful as they thought. North Vietnam made the United States seem bad for helping South Vietnam, so the United States fell back with responsibility of war. In The end, South Vietnam was taken over and it was a useless war for the United States -
Space Race
The Space Race was a competition between the Soviet Union and the United states to see who had the most advanced Space technology. The Soviet Union took a fast start with the launch of Sputnik, but the United States won the overall race by having Neil Armstrong as the first peron to step foot on the moon. -
Launch Of Sputnik
The launch of Sputnik was the kick off of the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Soviet union launched Sputnik, the first orbitting sattilite. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
The Bay of Pigs was America's attempt to invade Cuba secretly.They tried to train Cuban Exiles to over through Castro and his view of communism. However, Castro found out and prepared his army and we able to easily defeat America's attempts. -
Cuban Missle Crisis
The Cuban Missle Crisis was basically a standoff between the United States and the Russian forces in Cuba. They brought in Nuclear war heads and other missles that worried the Americans. For 4 months, President Kennedy worked with Soviet leader Khrushchev to withdraw the weapons from Cuba for a trade of removing US missles from Turkey
