She was born in London. Her parents were William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft. Her mother, Mary, was the first known feminist, and her father, William, was a radical writer and philosopher. -

Mother death
When Mary was only 19 days old her mother died of purple fever. -
Percy Shelley
Mary meets Percy, who is an admirer of her father. Percy was married to Harriet, and they had a child and a half together. -
The runaway
Mary, Percy and Mary's half sister run away to Switzerland to be free.
Here Mary gets pregnant and gives birth, but sadly the baby dies. -

Their second child, William, is born and survives. -

The challenge about writing a horror novel comes up. This is where it all starts with the Frankenstein story. -
A lot of death
This year Mary's bigger half sister dies, and little later in 1817 her daughter Clara dies. -
Succes of book
Now the book is very succesfull, despite all of Mary's unhappiness. -
William dies
Her three year old son, William, dies of Malaria. This totally breaks her, because William was everybody's darling. -
Percy's death
In 1821 Mary was pregnant with her fifth child.
Sadly Percy Shelley dies in a boat accident, and Mary is all alone and crushed. She takes care of Percy's two other children, who he had with Harriet, who killed herself.
Percy was 29 years old. -

Mary dies. She is 53 years old.
