Mary was born near Melbourne. She was born in a suburb called Fitzroy. Her parents were Scottish immigrants and she was the eldest of 8.

Mary needed to start work to support her family. So she became a governess for father woods who she ended up having a deep relationship with. This was because they both shared a dream, the dream to teach underprivileged children and build free catholic schools all over the world.

Mary and Father woods opened their first ever free catholic school. This was only the first of many though as Mary and Father woods would go on to do great things.

Mary and Father Woods start a new religious order of nuns. The Sisters of St Joseph and Mary became the first nun of the order when she was just 25.

Mary accuses a bishop of abuse and is kicked from the church for in subordinating. a couple months later on his deathbed the bishop admits to the abuse and says let Mary back into the church

Mary travelled to Rome and met Pope Pius IX and asked for papal approval so they could do things without having to ask the church to do anything. Mary Sought off on their "Rule of life". However the document was discarded and a new one mas drawn up. This ruined Mary and Father woods relationship and it was never recovered

Mary suffered a terrible stroke in 1902 and the Arch bishop of Sydney came to give the last rites and the arch bishop felt as if he was at the bed of a saint

Mary sadly died in 1909 due to natural causes. The Sisters of St Joseph continued her work though.

Mary becomes a saint many years later. Mary well deserved to be a saint because scientists looked at every detail of her life and determined she was worthy to be a saint

Many people now know of saint Mary. This is because she is Australia first ever saint, but not the last
