    Marshall plan

    Marshall plan
    Was announced at Harvard University on June 5th, 1948. Also known as European recovery program. United States spent $13 billion to help European economy recover from WW2. Was Named for Secretary of State George C. Marshall. United States was trying to help Europe to recover, but Soviet Union viewed it as attempt to interfere in the affair of other states. Ultimately, the Soviets prevented Poland and Czechoslovakia from taking part, despite their eagerness to do so. It successfully ended on 1951

    Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    The treaty called on the members to protect the members of this Pact. It included countries as Poland, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania, Hungary, E Germany, Czechoslovakia and Soviet Union. It named so because the treaty was signed in Warsaw. It started on May 9, 1955 and remained until 1991. Albania was expelled in 1962. 1990 E Germany left to reunite with W Germany then united Germany became member of NATO. In July 1991, the last meeting of the political consultative body took place.

    Berlin wall

    Berlin wall
    August 13, 1961, the Communist government of GDR, or East Germany began to build a barbed wire and concrete antifascist bulwark between East and West Berlin. The official purpose of this Berlin Wall was to keep Western “fascists” from entering East Germany. It stood until November 9, 1989. When citizens of East Germany were announced that they can freely go to West Berlin.

    Vietnam War was a very long conflict where N vietnam(Vietcong) was fighting against S Vietnam. More than 3,000,000 people died in this was, so much money was spent and it all was basically for nothing so when veterans came back home they weren't honored as they should've been. It lasted pretty long too, it started on November 1, 1955 and until April 30, 1975

    Election of Nixon

    Election of Nixon
    He was elected on November 5, 1989. Republican challenger Richard Nixon defeats Vice President Hubert Humphrey.During his presidency, Nixon oversaw some dramatic changes in U.S. Cold War foreign policy, most notably his policy of detente with the Soviet Union and his 1972 visit to communist China. His promise to bring peace with honor in Vietnam, however, was more difficult to accomplish. American troops were not withdrawn until 1973, and South Vietnam fell to communist forces in 1975.
