Mark Twain was born Samuel Clemens to parent Jane and John Marshall Clemens. He was born in Florida, Missouri. He had six brothers and sisters, but only 3 survived. -
Twain's family moves
When he was four Mark Twain's family moved to Hannibal, Missouri. This would later be the setting and ispiration for his books: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. -

When he was 15 he began a job at Hannibal Western Union. The newspaper was owned by his older brother, Orion. There he learned to become a typsetter and he often wrote little stories to publish to the paper. -

Twain met Olivia though her brother and was immediatly taken with her. He courted her through letters he sent to her and eventually proposed to her. She rejected his first proposal, but accepted the next one soon after that. The couples was wed the next year. -

The Angel Fish and Aquarium Club a arond a dozen members. They were all girls aged 11 to 16 and Twain treated them like his own grandaughters. He did this to cope with the death of his wife and two daughters. He and the girls would see concerts and have luncheons together. -

Mark Twain was awarded his Doctorate letter by Oxford University. This was an honorary doctorate as he had never finished his schooling. -
Mark Twain Dies
Mark Twain predicted his death in a note saying " I came in with Halley's Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don't go out with Halley's Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: 'Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together." He was right. He died on April 21st of a heart attack at age 74. He is buried in Elmira, New York,
