Search and Rescue/Cleanup at Ground Zero
There was a lot of clean-up after 9/11 many bodies were found much later then just that day. People did not if their family members were alive or not. It took Hundreds and Hundreds of people and endless hours to have the place cleaned up after the attack. Many people came immediately like police and firefighters to the towers. -
President Bush Responds to the Attacks
The first thing he promised to the Americans, was that he vowed to hunt down the killer and find him and give him his punishment. He flew straight to Louisiana and had a meeting there. -
National Remembrance and Mourning
The entire nation mourns and griefs while many families and friends were lost this day. People suffered from psychological trauma. The people who were involved with witnessing the terrorist attacks struggled with PTSD and a lot of people needed counseling and therapy. Every year around 9:00 in the morning on 9/11 the nation takes a moment of silence due to the tragic events of 9/11 -
Civilians Respond and Help
Many people donated money to help with all the damage to the city's. Many Doctors and specialists went and helped people in New York. There was an outpour of help. Many police and firefighter's risked their lives for people and many died saving people. -
The War on Terror is Declared
This took place on 9/11 and 9 days later declared war on Afghanistan. Basically it is an international military campaign. -
War in Afghanistan
The War started a couple days short of a month after 9/11. The war lasted 16.9 years and the 2 main enemies were America and Afghanistan. Canada and the United Kingdom also helped us a lot through the war. -
USA PATRIOT ACT
The Patriot act was singed into law by our president George W. Bush. This act was to unite and strengthening America by providing appropriate tools required to intercept and obstruct terrorism. -
Homeland Security Act
This is basically a mission of America to prevent any terrorist attacks happening, by minimizing all possible chances of it happening. -
War in Iraq
We started conflict with Iraq in 2003. The main reason we started a war with them is because of Saddam Hussein, the dictator of Iraq. -
The Hunt for bin Laden
Bin Laden the one responsible for the 9/11 attacks. After officials found out that He was the one responsible they immediately started looking to find him and hold him accountable for his wrong doing. He was killed 10 years later in Pakistan.
