    Norman Jean Baker, bettter known as Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Marilyn's mom was Gladys (Monroe) Baker Mortenson. When Marilyn was 7 her mom was hospitalized for schizophrenia, a severe mental condition. Which left Marilyn in several foster homes in the Los Angeles area.

    Marilyn's modelng career began in 1945 where she was discovered by photographer David Conover. The pictures of Monroe appeared in Yank magazine in 1945. In July 1946 20th Century Fox saw pictures of Marilyn and called her for a scren test.     Marilyn's second marriage was to Joseph (Joe) Paul DiMaggio in January 1954. Marilyn and Joe were married in a civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall. They spent their wedding night at the Clifton Motel in Paso Robles, California and honeymooned in Japan and Korea. Marilyn and Joe seperated on October 5, 1954. Marilyn and Arthur were divorced in Mexico on January 20, 1961.

    Marilyn Monroe died on August 5, 1962 at the age of 36. She was discovered laying face down, nude, with a telephone in her hand in her home in Los Angeles. Empty bottles of pills, prescribed to treat her depression were littered around the room. LA police concluded that her death was “caused by a self-administered overdose of sedative drugs and that the mode of death is probable suicide.”
