Marie is Born
Marie Curie was the fifth born on November 7, 1887 in Poland to two Polish teachers, Wladyslaw and Bronislaw Sklodowska. They strongly believed in getting an education and always pushing there childeren to learn. Marie would grow up to discover radium.

Paris
In Poland woman could not get a higher education then high school, so Marie moved in with her sister and her husband in Paris. After a little she moved out and was balancing school a job and struggling to pay bills and eat. -
First met Pierre
After Marie had been rejected by the family of her former boyfriend she hardened her heart and shut the thought of love out of her life. she focused solely on her education and research, until she met him. He was not interested by her looks but by her brain. He had finally met a woman who cared about knowledge as much as she did. (Curie 121) -
Married
After much asking from Pierre, Marie finally says yes to his proposal. Marie did not want a fancy wedding dress, she wanted something she could wear again, so she wore a simple brown blouse and skirt.

Marie's First Child
Marie gave birth to her first daughter, Irene. Marie now had to find time to raise her child, go to work and find time to go to the lab everyday. But during the pregnancy Marie never slowed down, at seven months pregnant she went on a biking and hiking trip with her husband. -
Nobel Prize
Marie won 1/3 of the Nobel award for physics. She shared this award wither her husband and Henri Becquerel. they discovered radium and its medical purposes.

Pierre's Death
Pierre: Marie's husband, father of two young girls, and teacher/scientist. He died in an accident after he was hit with a horse carriage and his skull broke and he was dead immediately after impact.

Lincoln Memorial Building Begins
After Lincoln was shot and killed people wanted to build him a memorial in his honor. they got permission and built the Greek inspired memorial in 11 years.

Nobel Prize for Chemistry
Marie shared this award with her late husband. In 1910 she successfully produced radium as a pure metal.

WW l begins with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo on 28th June 1914. After that everything went down hill. -
Marie Gives Prize Money to Aid WWl
Marie won money with her Nobel prize award but she gave it all to aid in the French winning the war. She did this because she felt helpless when her home country was under Russian control and felt that if she gave money she could be doing something to help her foster country.

Theodore Roosevelt. He was our 26th president and the youngest one. He was brought into office unexpectedly and in the same year that WW l ended. He was a naturalist and made 200 million acres of land into national parks.

After the long war, Germany signed the Treaty of Versailles. Stating that they are responsible for all the damage done to the French people and must pay for the renovations and all harm done. they only recently just finished paying off their debts.

After 11 years of hard work the memorial is done. Lincoln's memorial stands for peace, freedom, and justice, just as he did.

Marie's Death
Marie Curie: Discovered radium, won two nobel prize awards, raised two daughters after her husbands death and donated her prize money to help France win World War ll. She changed the way we think about chemistry. She changed science
