Birth
Marie Curie is born in Warsaw. Her parents were both teachers. She studied science under her father in her youth. She is one of five children. -
Early Life
Curie was not allowed to attend the University of Warsaw although she was always a good student. She attended a secret school, and dreamed of going abroad to earn her degree. She moved to Paris in 1891 and through herself into her studies. -
Degree
Curie earned her masters degree in 1893, and earned another degree in mathematics the following year. -
Marriage
Curie met her Beau and was married in 1895. She married a french physicist named Pierre Curie.The became a scientific dynamic duo! -
Daughter
Pierre and Marie had a daughter named Irene in 1897. This did not slow their work down. Both were working on new discoveries. -
Discoveries
Marie discovered that rays remained consistent no matter the condition or form of uranium. She discovered that rays comes from the elements atomic structure. She coined the word radioactivity. Marie and her husband also discovered two elements. -
Nobel Prize
Marie won the Nobel Prize in 1903. She was the first women to win the Nobel Prize in Physics. -
Death
Marie husband die tragically in wagon accident in 1906. In 1934 Curie passed away. Working with radio active chemicals took there toll on Curie, and she died of aplastic anemia.
