Marie curie was born on November 7th, 1867, She was born in Warsaw, Poland. -
Childhood/ Early Adulthood
From her early childhood Marie Curie was remarkable for having aprodigious memory. Maires father worked as a teacher and all his savings due to bad investments. This caused Maire to work as a teacher for a bit while attending a “ free university”, reading to polish women while working. From all earnings from teaching she invested into paying for her sister's Bronisława medical stuides in Paris. With the understanding that Bronisława would later help Marie get an education. -
Marie enrolls at Sorbonne
In 1891, Curie finally made her way to Paris and enrolled at the Sorbonne -
Work Life
In 1891 Marie went to Paris to follow lectures of Paul Appel, Gabriel Lippmann and Edmond Bounty, When in Paris she met a physician known as Jean perrin. Marie worked hard into her studies in her study corner while living off bread, butter, and tea. An in 1894 she began to work in lippmann's laboratory where she placed second in licence of mathematical science. Later in early spring she met Pierre Curie. -
Marriage
On July 25, 1895 Marie Curie and Pierre Curie got married in Sceaux. -
Discovery of polonium and radium ( radiation )
Maire and her husband Perrie then got into the science and elements of minerals. She found an interest in the mineral pitchblende, a mineral whose activity, superior to that of pure uranium, could be explained only by the presence in the ore of small quantities of an unknown substance of very high activity which then lead to the discovery of Polonium and Radium. -
First daughter Irene is born
In 1897, Marie and Pierre welcomed a daughter, Irène. -

Perrie's death
On April 19th, 1906 Maries husband Perrie was involved in a accident involving a horse and a carriage. -
Second Nobel Prize
Maire Won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of the elements polonium and radium, using techniques she invented for isolating radioactivity. She is the only woman to ever receive two Noble Prize awards -
The invention of using X-radiology
Throughout the time of world war I (1914-1918) Marie devoted herself to try and develop the use of X-radiology. -
Founded the Curie Institute in Paris
In 1920 Marie Founded the Curie Institute in Paris. -
Curie Died
Curie died on July 4, 1934, of aplastic anemia, believed to be caused by prolonged exposure to radiation.
