Marie Curie was born 7th November, 1867 in Warsaw, Congress Poland.

Unfortunately, her mother died because of typhus, a very common illness at that time, when she was 10.

She left Poland for France. In Paris, Maria stayed in a shelter with her sister and brother-in-law before renting a garret.

Marie started studying at the University of Paris once she moved to the city, and proceeded with her studies of physics, chemistry, and mathematics. In 1893, she was finally awarded a degree in physics.

On 26 July 1895 they were married in Seine.

In 1898, Curie and her husband announced the discoveries of radium and polonium, two unknown chemical elements by then.

In December 1903, The Royal Swedish Academy of Science awarded Marie Curie, together with his husband, the Nobel Prize of Physics.

International recognition for her work had been growing to new heights and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences honored her a second time, with the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

She died at the age of 66, the 4th July, 1934. The cause of her death was an aplastic anemia from exposure to radiation.
