Wedding
Marie Antoinette married 15-year old Louis XVI, two days after meeting him. She was only 14 years old when they got married at the Chapel Royal at Versailles. She wore a light purple gown, satin shoes, and a veil. The king wore a silver suit. -

Dr. John Archer was the first graduate of medical school. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania. -
Diamond Necklace Affair
In 1785, a young women persuaded Louis de Rohan to buy a diamond necklace for Marie Antoinette. This was a very famous and expensive necklace, and it had to be bought secretly as the king disapproved of this. Louis de Rohan bought the necklace and smuggled it abroad. When confronted, he declared himself innocent and the queen and king wanted him tried. During his trial, Parliament declared him innocent, much to the Royal Family's dismay. -
Storming of the Bastille
On July 14th, 1789 the Bastille prison was attacked. The angry mob was trying to get to the ammunition inside. This event is said to have begun the French Revolution, which ultimately led to the downfall of the monarchy. -

Another angry mob decided to overthrow the monarchy. They stormed the palace and locked the family in a tower. They were all put in different rooms and couldn't talk to each other. -

Just three years after the Bastille was destroyed, the Parisians led another attack. Tuileries was home to the Royal Family after moving out of Versailles. -

These mass killings were known as the "First Terror" or the Revolution. Sans-culottes killed between 1,100 and 1,4000 people. Most victims were innocent, ordinary people; although some were from the upper class. -

Louis XVI was sentenced to death after being convicted of conspiring with foreign powers. -
Daughter Taken Away
Her daughter Marie Therese, also called Madame Royale, was her only child to survive the Revolutions. Marie Therese was locked in a tower, with no knowledge of what was happening with her family. her brother was in the room next to her; he was constantly being beaten. When she was released many years later, she learned her family had all been killed. -
Execution
She was executed after a two-day trial. She wore a white dress, two-inch purple heels, and black stockings, held up by the garters she had made during her time in prison. When she arrived in town they cut her hair and tied her hands behind her back. As she walked forward, she accidentally stepped on the executioner's foot. Marie Antoinette turned towards him and said, "I did not do it on purpose". She was only 37 when she was beheaded.
