    Marie Antoinette is an important person from history that many people should know about. She helped provoke the popular unrest that led to the French Revolution. She also helped provoke the overthrow of the monachy in August 1792.

    Marie Antoinette was born in the Hofbrg Imperal Palace in Venna, Austria. She was the fifteenth and youngest daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I and Emperess Maria Theresa. She was born a princess and archduchess.
  • Marriage

    Marie Antoinette was married at the age of 14 to Louis-Auguste (who was 15 years old), the Dauphin of France,and was then known as Marie Anotinette, Dauphine of France. Their wedding took place in the Palace of Versailles. When Louis-Auguste took the throne because of her father's death, she was then named the Queen of France.

    Marie Thérèse Charlotte was born on December 19, 1778 who lived in exile after the death of her family. Louis Joseph Xavier Francios was born on October 22, 1781 adn died at the age of seven due to what is now known as tuberculosis. Louis Charles or Louis XVII was born on March 27, 1785 and died at the age of ten while he was alone in prison. Sophie Béatrix was born in 1786 and had died as an infant just before turning one year old.

The people didn't want an Austrain on the throne, and since France was almost bankrupt when she stepped into the picture, they blamed everything of her. The people tried, and succeded, to make all of France believe that she had no concern for the people of France and the entire French monarchy was destroyed.

    Louis XVI offered Marie an expensive necklace made of many large diamonds, made for another person, but she refused. A con artist, named Jeanne de Saint-Rémy de Valois, had a plan to use the necklace for weath, and she tricked the Cardinal de Rohan into buying the necklace for the queen by saying that she wanted him to buy the necklace for her. He had borrowed money for the necklace and when the jewellers didn't get the payment, all the blame fell on the queen since the neckklace was for her.

    When a proclamation threatening that if the royal family were harmed then the French civilions would be harmed, the eople were furious. A mob attacked the palace and had killed many of the guards. Louis XVI and Maire Antoinette escaped but France's legislative body removed the remainder of the king's powers and declaried him a prisoner.

    Whn King Louis XVI was executed, Marie plunged into deep mourning and she refused to eat or do any exercise. Her health rapidly became worse in the months after his death. She became extreamly sick and weak, she had even experienced tuberculosis.

    Marie Antoinette was executed by the guillotine at Place de la Rèvoution, Paris, France. She was about 38 years when she was exectuted. Marie was executed because she was royalty and the people revolted aganist royalty since they were starving and the royalty did nothing to help them.

    Marie Antionettes burial took place in Saint Denis Basilica, France. When she was executed, she was thrown into an unmarked grave in the rue d'Anou near ing Louis XVI's body. Ater the Restoration of the Monarchy, King Louis XVIII had her body (along with King Louis XIV's body) moved to the Saint Denis Cathedral.
