Magaret was born in Corning, New York. She has ten siblings and grew up in a Roman Catholic family. Her mother had several miscarraiges, which is part of what influenced Magaret to advocate birth control. -

Opened Birth Control Clinic
Margaret opened the first birth control clinic in America in 1916. She was arested nine days later, giving her a thirty day sentence in prison. However, this action later gave her the oppurtunity to convince the court to allow doctors to give women contraceptives for medical reasons. -

Magaret started Planned Parenthood (which was called American Birth Control League at the time). -

First Oral Birth Control
Magaret helped create the first oral birth control, called Enovid. She did this with the help of Gregory Pincus and the money from Katharine McCormick. It was legal and approved by the Food and Drug Administration. -

An agency is started to help equal pay. This includes getting rid of discrimination based on sex. -
Birth Control gets more Legal Rights
The Supreme Court made birth control legal for married couples. -

Margaret died in Tuscon, Arizona.
