Murder of Julio Nalundasan
Julio Nalundasan was shot and killed in his house in Batac Ilocos Norte, after he defeated Mariano Marcos (Ferdinand Marcos' father) for a seat in the national assembly. Ferdinand Marcos was convicted as the murder, according to 4 witnesses. At this point in time, he was not a person in the government. The Marcos family appealed to the supreme court to drop the chargers against Ferdinand Marcos. -
Marcos Get's Married
Ferdinand Marcos got married to Imelda Marcos. Imelda Marcos was a catch known for: being a beauty queen, loving arts, having a massive shoe collection (which she's famous for). They got married in the Pro Cathedral of San Miguel in Manila Immelda and Marcos had four children: Maria Imelda "Imee" Marcos, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., Irene Marcos, Aimee Romualdez Marcos (who was adopted). -
First time Marcos was elected president
During this time the Filipino's believed in Marco's and really liked him. Marco's gave the Filipino's hope, that he'd make the country a better place. The Filipino's were unaware at this time that he was a dictator. One of Marcos' claims was that he was the most "decorated" war hero, who served in World War 2. However, later on it was proven that he faked his medals, he had multiple people duped. -

Kabataang Makabayan/ Patriotic Youth (KM) was the most active political organization during this time, which was founded by Jose Maria Sison. KM protests ranged from 50,000 people- 100,000 people.) -

First Constitutional Convention
The constitutional convention was held in order to change the Philippines' constitution, which was led by the former president Carlos Garcia. He died after three days after taking oath and was replaced by former president Macapagal. November 29 1972, the convention approved a new constitution. After approving, the Philippines citizens had to vote for the constitution. In 1973, the new constitution was upheld. A key change was for the entire government to change to a parliamentary system. -
Bombing in Plaza Miranda
There was a bombing that took place in the heart of Quiapo, in "Plaza Miranda" blamed on Ferdinand Marcos (the public believed so). The bombing was ordered by the Communist Party Chairman Jose Ma. Sison. -
Arrest of Ninoy Aquino/ Jose Diokno
Ninoy Aqiuino, Jose Diokno, Jovito Salonga were colleagues and opposition senators of president Marcos. They were thrown into jail after martial law was declared. Ninoy Aquino was charged with murder, illegal possession of firearms and subversion. -
Declaration of Martial Law (proclaimation 1081)
Martial law was announced to the Philippines on September 23 1972, but Martial law was signed on the 7th of September 1972, before it was declared. There were a lot of civil liberties suspended (such as the writ of habeas corpus), this means anyone can just pick an individual up and detain (put into jail) that individual, for no reason. And the curfew was imposed. The military law was imposed, more strict and freedom was restricted. Media was controlled by the government. -
Imelda Marcos assassination attempt
Carlito Dimahilig, a geodetic engineer, attempted to kill Imelda Marcos. The assassination attempt took place during an awarding ceremony of her National Beautification and Cleanliness Contest. This event aired on national television. Imelda ended up with a total of 75 stitches. -
Marcos Constitution Ratified (approved)
This was when the constitution was ratified after the constitutional convention drafted a new constitution. Processed for three years. -
LABAN Party Founding
Founded by Nino Aquino in 1978, was an opposition party but this party lost against Marcos. On April 7, 1978, there was a national election (during martial law) for interim Batasang Pambansa, the LABAN party lost and Marcos party won (Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, new society). Nino Aquino at this point of time, was in jail when he decided to run for a seat in the Batasan. Thus, Ninoy failed to secure a seat. Even though LABAN party had enough public support, as evidenced by the noise barrage. -
Noise Barrage
Noise Barrage was held by the supporters of the LABAN (Ninoy Aquino's) party for the elections. The LABAN supporters wanted to show their support for Ninoy Aquino in becoming the next president. -
Elections of Interim Batasang Pambansa
The reason why there was an election was held was due to abolition of congress during martial law. This Interim Batasan Pambansa served as the legislative body when the government shifted towards the parliamentary form. -
Ninoy Aquino's heartattack/ Sent to the US
Ninoy had a heart attack, while he was in prison. At this point he was extremely sick, he was food deprived and lost 60 pounds. Marcos offered him an option of going to the US to see a doctor. Marcos did this in order for Ninoy to be out of the picture. -
1981 Presidential Elections (Marcos' third term)/ boycotted by opposition
Marcos won by 16 million votes against his opponent, retired general Alejo Santos. Marcos was former member of the nacionlista party, but he ran under his own party the KBL (Kilusang Bagong Lipunan- New Society). The Prime Minister was Cesar Virata. Thus, winning for another term. -

Enrile and Ramos trigger the EDSA uprising after the press conference. Marcos ordered the military to go to Camp Crame in order to either kill/ capture, depending on whether Ramos decides to fights back or not. Non- violent uprising on EDSA that took place. -

After Cory Aquino became president, she ordered Marcos to leave the Philippines. Marcos goes to Guam. -

Confetti Revolution
The Confetti Revolution took place in Ayala Avenue. The citizens of the Philippines would release yellow confetti, in order to represent campaign, onto the streets on a weekly basis. The Philippines began to sink deeper into debt, business leaders were concerned. -
Ninoy's assassination
The airport is named after Ninoy Aquino, due to his assassination taking place in the airport after arriving from the U.S. Ninoy Aquino was shot in the head, by suspect Rolando Galman who was just a hitman supposedly under Marcos. However, Marcos did not take this to court. Ninoy Aquino was one of Marcos' most vocal critics, Ninoy Aquino was also a senator. In 1980 Ninoy suffered a heart attack while in prison so he had to undergo heart surgery in the U.S. -
Snap elections
When Cory Aquino and Salvador Laurel ran against Marcos. However, the election was rigged and Marcos was proclaimed the winner. The computer technicians, they walked out because they protested the election results and claimed that the election results were rigged. Afterwards, there were protests. -
Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile defect from Marcos (in Camp Crame)
Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile defect from Marcos, hiding in Camp Crame with approximately 500 other military men in order to hide from Marcos killing them. The EDSA revolution, where the citizens on the Philippines stood out in EDSA in order for Marcos' troops to not get through EDSA to assassinate Enrile and Ramos, blocked Marcos' army from getting through to Camp Crame. -

PPR started due to allegations of massive cheating during the snap elections. Enrile and Ramos trigger the EDSA uprising after the press conference. Marcos ordered the military to go to Camp Crame in order to either kill/ capture, depending on whether Enrile/ Ramos decides to fights back or not. In order to defect Marcos assassinating, the people of the Philippines stand on EDSA in order to block the military from getting to Enrile/Ramos. PPR was famous for being non-violent. -
Maros died
Marcos died in Honolulu. He died in exile at St. Francis Medical Center due to having a heart, lung and kidney ailments. He was 72 years old when he passed away. -

Duterte allowed the burial of Marcos in the hero's cemetery(Libingan ng mga Bayan), despite a lot of people that are against him. It was Marcos' last wish to be buried in Ilocos. -
