Mapp v. Ohio
The case originated in Cleveland, Ohio. When police officers forced their way into the house of Dollree Mapp's without a proper search warrant. Mapp won the case ruling in a 5-3 person vote. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Engel v. Vitale
The court ruled that it is unconstitutional for state officials to compose an official school prayer and encourage its recitation in public schools .Engel won the case 6-1. This law allowed students to absent themselves from a nondenominational prayer if they found it objectionable.

Lemon v. Kurtzman
Pennsylvania and Rhone Island adopted statutes that provided for the state to pay for aspects of non- public education.The district court found in favor of the Kurtzman and held that the statute violated the first amendment. This law provided funding for non-public elementary and secondary schools with salaries,textbooks,and instructional materials for secular subjects.
