    Manitoba act came into and was passed by the parliament of Canada and received Royal Assent on May 12, 1870.
    July 15, 1870, Manitoba had officially joined the confederation of Canada as the fifth province.
    The act included important provisions like bilingual denominational schools, judicial and parliamentary systems and measures to address their "Indian" title to the land.

    Thomas Scott Irish immigrant, was a member of Canadian Party, a small group of English Protestants under the leadership of John Christian Shultz, who believed the Red River Colony should be ruled by English Protestants instead of the Provisional Government which was led by Louis Riel. A group was arrested after a planned meeting had been interrupted, Although Thomas Scott was ultimately arrested he eventually did because of his actions on march 4 he had been executed.

    It wasn't until March 10, 1992, more than 120 years later, that Ottawa officially recognized Louis Riel as the man who founded Manitoba. Without Louis Riel's sacrifice for minority rights cultural cooperation Manitoba would not be the place we know it as currently.
