Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson wanted the land where the Cherokee were, he wanted it for farming and the gold. He said he would pay them if the moved to Oklahoma, they didn't. Then the sent this to court and it was decided Jackson couldn't take their land. Jackson didn't care, he made them move anyway after two years. 15,000 left their village and 4,000 died on the way. -
Battle of the Alamo
During the battle of Alamo, some Texans fought against the Mexicans. There were very many Texans but they still beat the Mexicans. This gave the Texans a battle cry. They fought for Independence and because they weren't following the Mexicans law. -
Westward Expansion
U.S. expanded out to todays Oregon, Washington, Idaho, parts of Wyoming, Montana and western Canada, this called this place Oregon Country. They wanted the resources out their to trade with many countries, especially the Chinese. They also had farms. They wanted to spread Christianity and show that the U.S. was more powerful and that the Indians had to obey them.
