Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland with Germany invading the west and the Soviet Union invading the east. Germany and the Soviet Union attacked Poland because they wanted more land. After the invasion, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany with Poland already taken over. -

Germany's plan to divide Poland, they used rapid invasion and surprise attacks. It happened because Germany wanted to take over Poland. The effects was world war two happening. -
Fall of Paris (1940)
Germany attacked France and quickly defeated the French Army. It happened because the British left France to fight for themselves and Germany took advantage of France’s weak army. The effects are that France is now conquered by Germany. -
Pearl Harbor (1941)
Japan attacked the U.S navy ships in hawaii, disabling 19 ships, destroying 188 airplanes, wounding 1,100 and killed 2,400 Americans. It happened because Japan wanted to weaken the U.S navy. The next day The United States declared war on Japan. -
Allied Invasion of Italy (1943)
The Allied Invasion of Italy was the allied amphibious landing on mainland Italy. It happened because the allies wanted complete control over the western Mediterranean. The effects are that the rule of Mussolini finally ended. -
D-Day (Normandy Invasion 1944)
150,000 allied troops landed along a 50-mile French coastline to fight Nazi Germany. 5,000 ships and 11,000 airplanes/gliders were included during the fight. It happened because Great Britain and America wanted to stop Hitler from taking more land. After the fight Germany retreated from France. -
Battle of Bulge (1945)
Germany had an unsuccessful mission to push the allies back from their territory. It happened because Hitler wanted his Germany land back. The Germans lost so many experienced troops and equipment that there was no way their army could launch another attack on Allied Forces. -
Battle of Iwo Jima (1945)
Americans forces invaded the island on February 19, 1945, this battle lasted for five weeks. This was the first major battle of WW2 to take place on Japanese homeland. It happened because the U.S needed a place for fighter planes and bombers to land and take off. After the battle, Japan had to shut down their air fields. -
Battle of Okinawa (1945)
The United States Marine and Army forces fought against the Imperial Japanese Army on an island called Okinawa. It happened because it was a part of a three point plan the Americans had for winning the war in the Far East. After the battle, over 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 casualties for the Allies. -
VE Day (1945)
It was a huge victory for Europe, Germany has finally surrendered. It happened because Germany knew that they were going to lose so they just surrendered to end the war. After the victory, Europe was back to living in peace. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bombs (1945)
With Japan not surrendering, President Truman decided to drop a bomb in order to save American lives from a land invasion.It happened because Japan was still not surrendering, no matter what the United States does. After the atomic bombs, Japan finally surrendered with two of their cities gone, Hiroshima (135,000 final death toll) and Nagasaki (50,000 final death toll.) -
VJ Day (1945)
Japan has surrendered unconditionally to the allies, effectively ending World War 2. It happened because after the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan, Japan surrendered. After VJ Day, WW2 has finally ended with another United States victory.
