Captain Cook Lands in Australia
Captain Cook discovered Australia in 6th May, 1770. When he and his crew saw the land from their ship, they noticed large amounts of plants and trees and consequently, Cook and his expedition named the land Botany Bay. This was the beginning of a European Australia. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was written by five men. Those men were Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. This was the start of the Modern Day America. -
The French Revolution
Revolution in France that began due to very poor economic conditions caused by the frivility of nobles and the government. The working class grew tired of conditions and the revolt began to sieze power. It was significant because it was the first European revolution that installed a system of government other than a monarchy or dictatorship. -
Napoleon Bonaparte Overthrows the Directory
Napoleon seizes power in France due to instability. He is later appointed First Consul, giving him unlimited power. He leads the French on a military campaign that threeatens Europe, but his army suffers massive casualties when invading Russia, and the falls apart before he can take all of mainland Europe. -
Industrial Revolution
The industrial Revolution shows that the economic began to grow, new markets arrived, changes in the way goods were transported, and also improved the communcations and social structe of factorys. This impacted the world in many ways being it became a new opportunity to gain in new levels of money and commucations around the world. -
Californian Goldrush
People quit their jobs and travelled the world to find their wealth in gold. This brought multiple cultures to America. It was also where the first China Town popped up. -
Invention of The Telephone
Two inventors, Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell, both independently designed devices that could transmit speech. Graham Bell patented his device hours before Elisha, making the telephone his invention. It revolutionized communication. -
Invention of the Electric Light Bulb
Thomas Edison officially creates the first pratical electrically powered light bulb. This changed the world because it now allows for industrial processes to continue into the night due to the greater amount of light output compared to a candle. Workers can now work anytime of day. -
Birth of Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler is born, after his mother is encouraged to keep the baby by her doctor. Hitler will later run the Nazi Party and begin World War 2. He was also responsible for the Holocaust. -
First Powered Flight
The first time in hstory that a machine is made that powers itself for flying. Orville and Wilbur Wright successfully started a major revolution in flying technologhy that was to affect the way we move. -
World War 1 Begins
The First World War began when Britain and Germany went to war in July 1914. Australia sent many soldiers to Gallipoli and this was the beginning of the ANZAC's. Australia also fought in New Guinea.
