    The Battle of Crete was fought by the Germans against the British and Greeks who were on the Greek Island of Crete. This battle is significant because it gave the Allies a new taste of what the other side could do. This was the first battle when paratroopers were dropped in very large numbers. While the paratrooper attacks were "light", Nazis were able to gain air superiority and make the Allies surrender after 2 weeks of fighting.

    During Stalingrad, the Red Army took to the streets to fight against the Germans and defend its city. The German's artillery and air power absolutely demolished the city, but failed to destroy the defenses. Germany ended up being surrounded by opposing forces despite what looked to be a great victory. 2 million died.

    This was a very confusing battle that occurred after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This was the very first naval battle fought long distance between aircraft carriers.There was also a use of dive bombers and torpedo bombers. American dealt a great loss, however, once the USS Lexington was destroyed. This fight was the lead up to the Battle of Midway.

    Kursk was given the title as the greatest tank battle of the war.The Nazi's goal was to once again surround all Russian forces. However, Allied codebreakers alerted the Russians of the planned attack, which allowed them to set up a defensive. Marshal Zhuvok was able to push back the Germans after launching his counter attack.

    This was the largest "amphibious" battle in history. Due to Germany not being bale to act quick enough, the Allies were ale to send 300,000 troops to the beaches of Normandy (some by ship and some by aircraft).

    This was a bloody, last attempt at victory for the Germans. The Battle of Berlin was a similar battle to the one in Stalingrad. Russia had the advantage of the use of tanks. Once again, there were many casualties. However, this battle did not end with surrender. The suicide of Hitler ended the battle as well as the war in Europe.
