    This event was about young women working for nearly 13 hours a day. At young ages and growing older they were working in locked in loud noises, lint-filled air, and not given the time to continue their education. Soon after their bosses decided to cut their wages and that's when they decided that they were tired of how they were being treated, so they organized together and fought back.

    Samuel Gompers
    Samuel Gompers was a labor union leader. He helped establish the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions. He was able to gather over 1.4 million members which is the reason why he is considered to be a key figure in the American labor movement.

The contract was for three years and they were always cutting wages. The union fought for themselves but to set an example and new way for America's new industrial orders.

    This event took place at Pressed Steel Car Co. plant in McKees Rocks that contain over 5,000 to 8,000 immigrant workers. They had fired workers for asking for better pay after they had promised better pay. So this got together and became a strike for improving working wages.

    Joe was a Swedish American songwriter and organizer for the Industrial Workers is the World. He identified himself as a member of the IWWW organization and traveled world wide to gather more people. He traveled, wrote political songs, poems and made speeches to help with the Labor movement.
  • Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

    Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
    An event that happened to the Triangle Waist company garment factory. Fire spread on the 8th, 9th, and 10th floors, and they happened to be locked and cramped, leaving no one to leave. This led to the growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, which gave the passing of newer factory safety laws.

    Martin became someone important during the Labor rights movement since he spoke at union conventions. He also walked at picket lines with workers to also work into promoting civil rights. Then during 1968 he also was supporting striking sanitation workers to help them, so they showed how much of an important person and impact he did for the Labor rights movement.

Then he talks about how much of a change could happen if we gather together and help fight for the natural rights of a human to hispanics and other communities/ethnicities don't get.
