British capture Ticonderoga
July 5th the Americans are forced to withdraw giving up the fort to the British. General Burgoyne had 7,400 men and 36 naval ships for the British so the American's only option was to give up the fort to the British. -
Treaty Amity with France
After the win at Saratoga, the French were ready to make a deal with the Americans to help support their cause. They closed the deal on February 6th, 1778. -
Arnold a Traitor
Arnold was in debt and wasn't doing so well as a general. Also, he was willing to give up the patriot cause for 20,000 commission and posted as a British general for the King's army. -
Battle of Yorktown
Cornwallis surrendered with the French ground and naval forces helping the Americans defeat them. The Americans had caught 8,000 soldiers, and 214 pieces of field artillery. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris had ended the Revolutionary War. Franklin and Adams were the American peace commissioners, and believed that this was a government with whom the Americans would be able to reach an agreement.
