On the 7th of January French Royal council declared favor of a treaty of Amity with the United States. It was followed on Febuary 6th with a treaty of all France. -

General Benedict Arnold conspired to turn his command of West point to the British. In return he received money and became a general in the British army. -
Battle of Yorktown
General Cornwalis arrived in Yorktown in May 1781 and began preparing a naval base. General Washington and French troops surround the British army forcing them to surrender. -
Treaty of Paris
A peace treaty was formed between Great Britian and the U.s. on September 3, 1783. This treaty ended the revolutionary war.
