Major events in the History of Computing and the Internet

  • Charles Babbage

    Charles Babbage
He was born on December 26th 1791 and died in late October 1871 in London. Babbage was a mathematician, philosopher, mechanical engineer and an inventor. Babbage invented the concept of creating a digital programmable machine (1837). The invention was called difference engine. He is often also known as "Father of the computer."
  • Ada Lovelace

    Ada Lovelace
Ada Lovelace born in the 1815 and died in November 27th 1852 in London the united kingdom. Lovelace was a mathematician, writer and the first computer programmer. She invented the program for an early computing machine that excited only on paper (1840´s). She did this by writing down the first machine algorithm. Which was extraordinary at that time thinking she was a woman with a lot less opportunities then men had.
  • Edith Clarke

    Edith Clarke
Edith Clarke the first ever woman to be employed as a electrical engineer in the United States of America. As well as that she is also known to be the first ever woman to be a professor in the electrical engineering unit in the USA. One of Edith Clarke's extraordinary inventions was the calculator (1921) that we still have use for today. It was useful since it helped electrical engineers to calculate and simplify equations for power lines.
  • John von Neumann

    John von Neumann
Neumann was born 1903 in Budapest Hungary. He was a mathematician, computer scientist, Physicist, polymath and a engineer. He is widely known for his work with early development of computers and his development of Maniac also known as (Mathematical analyzer, numerical integrator and computer. He also has a undergraduate in chemical engineering. Maniac was so important to USA due to that Neumanns development helped them win over the Sovjet union for the hydrogen bomb in 1952.
  • Konrad Zeus

    Konrad Zeus
Born in 1910. He was a civil engineer, computer scientist, business man and Inventor. Zeus is most famous for his calculating space book and for his achievement as the first person to create a programmable computer. May 1941 it was first being used. On his calculating space book he wrote in depth about automata theory and in this he proposed that all processes are computational in the universe. This view that he had on the subject is now known as many other names ex pancomputationalism.
  • Edgar F.Codd

    Edgar F.Codd
Edgar Frank Codd was born in 1923 in the United kingdom. He was a computer scientist and mathematician. Codd worked for the IBM a computer hardware company and while working there he invented a integrated database system. This system used over 12500 vacuum tubes. Edgar is also sometimes known as the "Father of database." These databases methods help us retrieve and store computer data.
  • Douglas Englebart

    Douglas Englebart
Douglas Englebart an American engineer and Inventor. He is most famous for his two inventions the Computer Muse (1963) and the Hypertext 1950s. He invented the computer mouse by randomly one day doing an experiment that led to finding a better way to click and point on display screens. The hypertext invention that Englebart and Ted Nelson invented did so that we got the computerized web "hypertext" and the clickable link "hyperlink." They fund the new concepts by computerizing cross references.
  • Tim Berners-Lee

    Tim Berners-Lee
Tim was born in the united kingdom in 1955. He is a computer scientist that came up with the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989. But he has also created the web browser which is used to access the WWW. The web browser retrieves the important information from the web server that then can put up the page on the users electronic device. This invention of the WWW did so the public and not only scientists could use the internet. This meant that people could easier communicate and share/receive information.
  • Bill Gates

    Bill Gates
William Henry Gates born in America in 1955, currently 65 years. He is a developer, Investor, author and many more things. But what he is most famous for is being one of the founders for Microsoft (A technology company). It was founded in 1975. Microsoft is a company that sells consumer electronics and computer software. It is best known for the Microsoft window line operation systems.
