Causing speculation that there was interference with the election, especially how the numbers were significant within the electoral votes. This prompted an investigation into the election and here was a Russian invasion within social media, especially Facebook. Promoting propagandistic views to get Trump to win and the feel filled with fake news regarding Clinton and so on.

    The Covid-19 Pandemic shaped how the world operated and how significant it changed everyday life from work to socializing. All forms of social media were used to spread the news, from Facebook to Twitter and Instagram. With Twitter, it was updated periodically from all users on the latest update of Covid-19 and how contagious it was and what you can and cannot do, to avoid catching it.

    George Floyd
    George Floyd was killed by policeman Derek Chauvin, Chauvin held his knee on the back of Floyd's neck until he stopped breathing and then he died. This prompted Black Lives Matter and other events surrounding African Americans getting killed by the police. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, protests started happening all around the world because of this. The social media sites that were heavily used were Facebook and Twitter, and also YouTube as well.

    With the Coronavirus originating in Wuhan, China. This sparked racism and discrimination against Asians all over the world, especially in American and Canada. With Asian-Americans randomly getting beat up or attacked in public because they blamed them for the Covid-19 pandemic. A lot of individuals who were attacked were elderly and some would die from the injuries. Video footage from security cameras were recorded and shared online on Facebook and Instagram, prompting protests.
  • Attack on the Capitol

    Attack on the Capitol
    On January 6, 2021, a mob of Trump supporters attacked the United States Capitol to overturn the presidential election, since president Joe Biden won and Trump was defeated. Prompting his supporters to attack and overturn the results at the capitol. Rioters caused major damage to inside and outside the capitol, to this day individuals who were part of the mob are still getting arrested and Trump is being investigated for his involvement. Twitter was the main source of news for this event.
