The midnight ride of Paul Revere
Paul Revere rode from Lexington to Concord to warn the Americans that the British were coming.Never did make it because he was detained by britsh officer. Dr.Samuel Prescott made it to concord to warn them that the britsh were coming to seize the arsenal and military supply at concord -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
First shots fired between the american and the british troops. No one knows who fired first, but is well known as the "Shot Heard 'Round the World.". American withdrew but were able to stop the advances of the british army and the american militia was able to save it military supplies. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Two day battle fought in breeds hill between american forces under Col. William Prescott and Britsh forces commanded by General Howe. American troops defended the boston shipyard but could not suceed because they were low in ammunition and outnumbered. This is were Col. Prescott said the famous quote to his men "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes." Eventually British stormed the hill and american troops quickly retreated. General Baron von Steuben arrives at valley forge to help train George Washington troops. He also helps sanitize the camp. He is asisted by Alexander Hamilton and Nathaniel Greenes. -
John Paul Jones captures the british ship Serapis
John Paul Jones, aboard the Bonhomme Richard, captures British man-of-war Serapis near English coast. This is where he famously responded to a british office about not surrendering by replying, "I have not yet begun to fight." It was a major naval victory for the american side. -
Battle of King's Mountain
The battle was fought between american side Isaac Shelby and John Sevier against Maj. Patrick Ferguson and General Cornwallis. The americans defeated Major Patrick Ferguson and one-third of General Cornwallis' army. lasted 65 minutes and it turned out to be an american victory. -
Battle of Yorktown! Cornwallis Surrender!
Awaiting reinforcement, cornwallis stood his ground at Yorktown,
Virginia. He was cornered by the french navy and also by the continental army of washington. He surrendered and eventually was the end of the great war, although there were minor skirmishes in the next 2 years. -
Treaty of Paris
Treaty of Paris was signed by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay. This officially ended the american revolution, and the treaty stated that Britian was to recognize the united states as and independent nation and they were to remove troops out of the US territory.
