-The longest and most destructive siege in history
-Hitlers attempt at capture Leningrad
-The death toll is around 1,500,000
-The people of the city turned to cannibalism due too mass starvation
-Valuable art and books were burned for warmth -
Battle of Stalingrad
-Hitler decided to invade the Soviet Union with out declaring war.
-Close quarter combat took place on the streets
-40,000 civilians lost their lives due to disregard of the citizens.
-Many soviet women were machine gunners
-The battle is known for the snipers -
Operation Torch
-The British and America joined forces to invade France North Africa.
- This was the first major airborne assault carried out by the US.
-The allies were pressured by the Soviet Union to do this, so that it would shift the Germans focus, so it was a two front war.
- They organized 3 task forces to get the key ports in Morocco and Algeria.
- Roosevelt ordered that this was important and that this needed to happen. -
D-Day
- Over 13000 aircraft and 5,000 ships were apart of this mission
- 10,000 estimated Allies were killed
- D-Day was the allies storming Normandy, France in order to liberate them
- It ended with France liberated
-They tricked the Germans into thinking this was going to occur somewhere other than Normandy.

Battle of Berlin
-This Battle was primarily fought between the Germans and the Soviet Union.
-Stalin wanted Russia to gain war and was determined to capture Berlin.
-This Battle lead to Hitler's suicide shortly after this battle ended.
-Stalin's plan was to surround Berlin and then attack it.
-2,25 million Soviet soldiers marched Berlin. -
Battle of the Bulge
-Hitlers generals suggested that they not do this do to the low success rate.
-German troops stole american uniforms to attack on their side.
-The battle was one of the Germans final resorts to push the Americans back.
-The weather was a huge influence on the battle
-Fuel shortage is one of the reasons that the Germans did not succeed.
